Lumpini Park

Bangkok's largest and most popular park. The park is about 10 minutes walk from Sawasdee Langsuan Inn. A large artificial lake in the center is surrounded by broad, well-tended lawns, wooded areas and walking paths. In other words, it is the best outdoor escape from Bangkok without leaving town.

The best times to visit the park is in the early morning. Suan (Park) Lumpini is a place of moods rather than sights. In the morning it is full of people exercising. More striking and graceful than the joggers are Chinese Tai Chi groups, making slow movements to music. Other facilities include a snack bar, several areas with tables and benches for picnics and a couple of tables where ladies serve Chinese tea. Rest rooms are placed at intervals throughout the park. Rowing boats and puddle boats can be rented at the lake.

Pantip Plaza

The mall has two anchors, IT City, which occupies the top floor, and Data IT on the mezzanine level. There are hundreds of small shops specializing in computer hardware, software and accessories, including parts, repair, modifications, networking, second hand, laptops, Macintosh and peripherals.

The sale of pirated software remains an easy and open practice, mostly on the ground floor of the plaza, despite the occasional shuttering of all shops selling illegal computer software and entertainment CDs, DVDs, and VCDs during police checks. The shop will take your selection from binders full of titles and cash payment, then deliver the goods in 10-20 min, as the contraband is stored off site. Pantip Plaza is on Phetchaburi Road, next to Platinum Fashion Mall. Pantip Plaza is open daily from 10 AM to 9 PM.

The Platinum Fashion Mall

The Platinum Fashion Mall is a 5 billion baht (100 million euro) shopping mall in Pratunam, Bangkok, Thailand, which specializes in fashion clothes and accessories retail and wholesale. It is a six-storey complex with an 11-storey condominium building above the complex.

The clothes shops operate on the principle that buying 1 piece is a retail sale and warrants retail price, but buying 3 (or sometimes more) pieces is wholesale and you get the wholesale price. An example of pricing structure is 1 men's shirt retail 250 baht, 3 shirts wholesale 500 baht. The mall is on Phetchaburi Road, next to Pantip Plaza and opposite Pratunam Complex, a 14-storey mall. It is also near Central World Plaza.
